Steadfast Love

Did you know that God's love is a steadfast love? That time and time again we try and fail but God loves us through all of that. It is a love that we don't deserve but when we cry out to Him, God is there for us.

I'm in this bible study and we are doing a study about Psalm 107, now I am only part way through week 1 so there is a lot more for me to learn but a few things were on my heart.

When is the last time you opened your physical Bible? Not an app on your phone or Bible gateway for a class, but when is the last time you open your physical Bible? For me it had been MONTHS but yesterday I opened it. It is felt so good. There was a familiarity when I opened it. That it was a home of some sort. My old underlines and words intertwined with God's love letter to me. In Genesis at the top of the page I wrote "Dear Rachel," and at the very end of Revelation I wrote "Love, God" because that is what the Bible is, a giant love letter to us. Showing us how much God loves us, protects us, and cares - and what we are supposed to do about it.

When reading Psalm 107 the first time, I thought ugh this stuff doesn't relate to me, why are these metaphors and stories so old, this is not how God responds to me. Well Rach probably because the Bible was written hundreds of years ago and they weren't worried about a 23 year old in 2020 obviously seeing herself in the story. So it took some reflecting and re-reading and remembering that what God's response looks like in Bible times, in 2020, or in my life specifically are all different but the idea and truth behind it is the same, God's got me. He's got us all.

We don't deserve any of it. Look at where the church is, where our country is, where our everyday actions are, we don't deserve the love or any of the moments where the presence of God washes over us. But God believes in us and so time and time again we try and we fail and we try better and He is there to catch us, guide us, and love us.

Short and simple.

~Be you
